History - From Past to Today
As NP group, we started this journey to enhance the level of mental health of the society, to contribute to the rehabilitation of mental health-related problems , to offer health services for treatments of in-patient and out-patients, and while offering these services to provide them with the international standards of modern science. In 1998, we started to implement standard EEG together with an additional feature of brain mapping, and also added the computerized clinical Neurobiofeedback tests and computerized training modules into diagnosis and treatment programs.
NP Group, firstly, opened the Turkey branch of Memory Centers of America on May 25th, 1999, at Baghdad Street in Istanbul with the participation of the President of the Republic, Süleyman Demirel.
Memory center, having accomplished to implement the “Brain check-up” and “Magnetic stimulation Treatment (TMS) first in Turkey, continues uninterruptedly to offer new treatment methods in psychiatry effectively with its highly qualified expert staff.
Memory Center that has adopted to rely on scientific measurements in the diagnosis and the treatment of brain functions dealing with neurological and psychiatric diseases, one year later realized the second stage opening Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit on October 3rd, 2000 with the participation of Wenon Wells, the President of “Memory Center of America”
The service of these two centers continues continuously since then. We take pride in being pioneers in Turkey to implement a treatment approach depending on measurements of brain functions and thought-oriented medicine understanding.
By combining and making use of the potential of all Neurology, Psychiatry, and Psychology, NP GROUP has adapted a multidisciplinary approach from diagnosis to treatment in Turkey.
In February 2003, NP GROUP put into service a five-storey center for Adult Neurology and Psychiatry in Feneryolu, and allocated the villa behind it for young children and adolescent psychiatry.
In November 2006, NP GROUP has started to use functional and volumetric MR visualization techniques. Then on March 20th, 2007, by establishing the first and the only Neuropsychiatry Hospital in Turkey we have met the need for an in-patient institution and inaugurated the Hospital with the participation of Bülent Arınç, President of Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
In June 2009, NP GROUP started the first Clinical Pharmacogenetic Laboratory in Neuropsychiatry in Turkey and on August 10th, 2009, the service of Child and Adolescent Psychology and adult psychiatry at NP ISTANBUL Polyclinic at Etiler.
On March 3rd, 2011 Üsküdar University has been officially established .
Following NPISTANBUL Neuropschiatry Hospital, NP Feneryolu Polyclinic and NP Etiler Polyclinic, Üsküdar University has been added to NP group chain as an importand part of the thematic network. NP GROUP, inspired by NP traditions and with the vision of faculty adhering to them, has a pioneering role to offer young people doors to promising jobs of the future while being individuals equipped with human values.
As of November 22nd 201, Memory Center Neuropsychiatry Center and NPISTANBUL Polyclinic at Etiler continues to serve as part of Üsküdar University’s NPSUAM Neuropschiatry Health Application and Research Center.
Research and Development
NP GROUP has invested much on R&D projects as well as the novelties it introduced Turkey with in the field of Neurology. Üsküdar University aims to contribute to the world medicine through the large data base accumulated and the hi-tech devices such as QEEC, volumetric MR, functional MR, one and only MR compatible EEG, EPMRS, EKT, Pharmacogenetic Laboratory and rTMS. The results of the researches and projects have been shared with the psychiatry world and published in renowned scientific magazines. Üsküdar University has 2000 m2 of laboratory area; Brain Mapping (QEEC), Genetics (DNA Isolation), Neurobiofeedback, Neuropsychology, Brain Stimulation, Neuroimaging and Pharmacogenetics, Neuropsychopharmacology Phase1 (NPF) laboratories are fully functional and open to the use of students.
